SideLearn provides writing feedback for text users choose to review while using ChatGPT.
SideLearn handles submitted writing, generated feedback, language preferences, the selected model, and the user's OpenAI API key. Submitted writing may contain personal or sensitive information that the user includes.
This information is used to provide writing feedback, explain corrections in the configured mother tongue, save preferences, authenticate API requests, and temporarily cache results.
When you request feedback, SideLearn sends the submitted text and language instructions directly to the OpenAI API over HTTPS. Your API key is sent to OpenAI to authenticate the request. SideLearn does not send your full conversation, ChatGPT cookies, or ChatGPT login tokens. No developer-operated server receives these requests.
OpenAI processes requests under its applicable terms and data policies. SideLearn sets store:false on feedback requests; this does not eliminate all retention that OpenAI may apply.
Language and model preferences are stored in your Chrome profile. Your API key is stored for the browser session by default. If you enable “Remember key on this device,” it remains in local extension storage until deleted. This storage is not an encrypted credential vault.
Submitted text and feedback are temporarily stored in browser-session storage. SideLearn caches up to 40 feedback results.
You choose when to request feedback and what text to submit. You can clear feedback history in the side panel and delete the saved API key in settings. Clearing local history does not delete information already processed by OpenAI. A request already in progress may complete after you clear history.
SideLearn does not sell user data, include advertising or behavioral analytics, collect browsing history, or use information for creditworthiness or lending decisions. Data is used and transferred only to support its writing-feedback purpose.
This policy will be updated if SideLearn's data practices change.
